Here’s what happens when you stop procrastinating

Procrastination has a  way of creeping into our lives, hindering our progress and holding us back from achieving our goals. Many of us experience it but like my client David, it's difficult to understand why we find it so challenging to overcome on our own.

Challenges:

David, a professional in his mid thirties, found himself trapped in a cycle of procrastination.

  • He aspired to lead a healthier lifestyle through diet and exercise and had dreams of starting his own side business. However, he struggled to take consistent action.

  • Overwhelmed by his goals, he often postponed exercise routines and healthy meal planning.

  • Procrastination dimmed his motivation and hindered progress, affecting both his health and entrepreneurial dreams.

Coaching Approach:

To combat procrastination, we dissected its underlying causes and discovered that fear of failure and perfectionism emerged as key factors. Therefore we focused on

  • Reframing failure as a stepping stone to success

  • Setting realistic expectations

  • Breaking down tasks into manageable steps and creating a structured schedule to minimize overwhelm.

The Impact:

  • Embracing gradual changes, David began exercising regularly and making healthier dietary choices.

  • With the fear of failure reframed, he initiated steps towards his side business, driven by a newfound clarity of purpose.

  • The structured schedule helped him overcome procrastination, and his momentum built as he witnessed tangible progress.

By tackling procrastination head-on and adopting a holistic approach, David not only improved his health but also took substantial strides towards his entrepreneurial aspirations. The story of David's transformation serves as an inspiring reminder that with the right guidance, determination, and targeted strategies, procrastination can be overcome, and dreams can be turned into reality.
